Thursday Thirteen
Thirteen Reasons I’m Thrilled to be Writing Again.
1. I have a lot of ideas and it’s a great outlet for me.
2. It’s not a great income, but it’s a couple pairs of shoes, or meals out a night and it helps. Mine has been not has high because of no new books. I miss it.
3. It’s deeply satisfying to read that someone’s day was made better because you put the right words together.
4. I need peace to write. I have peace. The children are gone and the music is low and sweet. It’s magical for me.
5. It feels right to know how the flow of the book is to go and to watch it come out on paper.
6. I like the control of moving my characters towards the ending I enjoy. Other writers let the characters come alive, I make mine come alive. Different strokes.
7. They spill out of me. I’m prolific when I write. I can’t stop them, control the flow, nor do I want to. 10,000 words a day is not uncommon.
8. I love, love and growth and change. The evolution of my characters. They open like a lotus and it amazes me that I can write that. Capture it on paper. I’ve always wanted to paint, or draw and I cannot. Instead, I paint with words.
9. The world I inhabit melts away as I write.
10. I can get anger, jealousy, pain out with my words. It’s cheaper than my therapist.
11. Once my work is done, the book finished, I walk away. I never re-visit, only re-read for editing purposes. I’m not so wrapped up I cannot let go.
12. If a book is not working, I walk away. I never slog through the impossible. In real life, I tend to do that.
13. It brings a new aspect and fresh outlook to my world. I am re-born in my work. And to think, it only took me 42 years to figure out that I’m a writer.
