Thursday Thirteen

By Nancy Lindquist | August 16, 2007

Thirteen things about my recent releases, and summer writing.

1. “Ladies! Meet Red Hot Alaskan Men, was panned by a well known blog, and has spent quite a bit of time on the bestseller list. Just shows you that any publicity is good publicity. Unless you’re Ms. Spears.

2. I have forgone writing for making a Renassaince Faire dress this week. I am now ready to write a story about a tailor in 1490.

3. It’s hard to write sex scenes when the kids are home.

4. I was contacted to review sex toys and write about them. Since they also contacted every author I know, I deleted the e-mail.

5. I have to edit a story for Lady Aibell Press tomorrow, and come up with a new title for the book.

6. I am terrible at coming up with titles.

7. Titling gives me a headache.

8.  I just detest my allergies. It’s hard to think with your brain filled with goo. Okay, my brain is not really affected with goo. It just feels like it.

9. I’m within pages of completing four stories. Two short, two novel length. I can’t decide what to do with them.

10. My muse is a snippy bitch who needs to be fed good chocolate, to work.

11. My muse prefers Godiva.

12. My muse has good taste.

13. The Diane Rehm show on, NPR did a story on Pearl Buck yesterday. The story said that if it were not for her retarded daughter, she would not have become a writer. Tears fell on my silk dress as I sewed. I too write because I need a release from being the mom of two special needs kids. While I’m no Pearl Buck, I do write my heart. Writing is best done with a heart full of experience. A challenged child will give you that gift.

My husband is a painter and agrees that titles are very hard. How many ways to title a painting of sail boats on Lake Erie? I didn’t do a TT, but did do a PT. Hope you’ll stop by and comment.

You are so handy with making clothes. I remember the photos of the lovely outfits you had for RT. A Renassaince Faire dress sounds lovely.

And all muses deserve the best chocolate. Mine likes Lindt (dark) *g*
