Promotional Stuff

As a writer a big part of my job is promoting my books. Not something I have a handle on, yet. I try, but it’s not always easy. I don’t quite know what to do to get people to spend their hard earned money on my stuff. I’ve thought about a site like, Author Island, which does some basic promotion. They have a strong readership. Not millions, but thousands a day. Not bad. I’ve also poured tons of money into things to make me memorable to the public. Not all have gone as planned.
I did spend a lot of time at RT asking readers what makes them pick up a book. Many said, “excerpts.” Just get a taste into our hands and let us know where to get it. I can do that. I’m going to have to. I have four stories coming out this summer and they are going to need homes. It’s all just a crap shoot sometimes, because what works for some authors, may not work for me.
