My Romantic Times Costumes

By Nancy Lindquist | April 20, 2007

Here it is. My life over the last few days, in needle and thread. My RT costumes. I’ve sewed my fingers to the bone!  They all look better on, than on the hanger. I’ll post LOTS of pictures of RT.

vampires-of-the-west.jpg

Vampires of the Wild West Costume. I wanted to honor my ancestors, without wearing regalia. This was a compromise. I wasn’t about to dress up like a cowgirl. The feather goes in my hair. The fabric is a microfiber. Since my Native American hair is naturally stick straight, I won’t have to do a thing with it.

My costume for the Vampire Ball on the last night. The corset was a pain in my hind end. The skirt is stretch velvet. It’s a fishtail, with layers of lace for the bottom. That’s not clear in the photo. The shirt was easy. Once you know how to make those, you don’t need a pattern. Long straight hair here.

My Moulin Rouge costume. Quite a departure from what I initially had planned. I found the corset thing and the idea took off from there. Bless Marshall’s clearance stuff. The skirt has layers of fabric and black lace at the bottom. I’m going to pin it up. I’m wearing fishnet hose and heels with it. Hair will be curled and teased to death. I’ve got a matching pink feather thing for my hair.

The Fairy Ball. I’m the Goddess of Spring. I still need to get wings. We’re doing that later today. I also have to make a wand. I figure a dowel and ribbon will do it. The flower thing around the neck goes in my hair. I have another one for my neck and left ankle. Those leaves go all the way down the skirt. Not sure what to do with the ole hair, here. Probably loose curls. Like they’ll stick in the Houston humidity.

Ok, I despise you for two things.
    1. You’re going to RT (whines pitifully)
    2. You can sew and some junk (glares balefully)
Nah.. I can sew but my mamaw put it best. I ‘lose my religion’ when I do it. These look great on the hanger, so I imagine they’ll look fab on you, Nancy! Have fun at RT.
(Oh, I’m still frickin jealous about THAT!)

Your costumes look awesome Nancy. If they look that good on the hanger, I imagine they’ll be beautiful on. Can’t wait to hear about how much fun you have when you get back.
