Invited ON A FREE ROYAL CARIBBEAN CRUISE!
Allow me to explain. I’ve been a long time proponent of cruising on the Internets largest cruise board, Cruise Critic . Royal Caribbean invited some of CC’s long term members, and prolific posters, to sail on a pre-inaugural sailing of, “The Liberty of the Seas.” For some reason, unbeknown st to me, I was selected! I’m dead excited about this. I sail in May.
2. Dance around the room doing the rump-shaker at the computer screen. No, it was not pretty. Be grateful I’m a writer and work alone.
3. Get stupid and decide it’s your lucky day and submit a manuscript to Harlequin’s new erotic e-book series, Spice Briefs. Immediately regret said decision, but get an auto-reply and know it’s too late to get it back (it’s a good story. It might just make it).
4. Pull your summer clothes out and begin the process of deciding what to take, even though the cruise is more than a month away. Will there be a formal, or not? No one seems to know for sure. Animal print hot-dress, or the elegant black silk?
5. Find out your husband can’t go, cry a little, then e-mail a good friend to come along. Hear her shout of joy from seventy miles away. She lives in Lansing. I’m in Ann Arbor. See, a U of M fan can too be tolerant. If she sings the MSU fight song, I’m tossing her over the side.
6. Panic cause you don’t know where you stuffed your passport when you got home from your lat cruise. Then, remember it’s in the files where it’s supposed to be.
7. Start the internet hunt for a hotel in Miami that’s close to the pier, not ungodly expensive, plush and posh.
8. Realize that posh and plush do not go with cheap and settle for the very close, and semi-reasonable Holiday Inn. At least it’s across the street from the cruise terminal.
9. Go to Cruise Critic and find that at least seven people on your sailing are people you’ve been dying to meet for years. Wonder if that’s how they compiled the list and why the hell you’re on it, if that’s the case?
10. Worry that the whole thing will devolve into the Crown Princess tipping incident of 2006. Get pissy about the white pants that were ruined, all over again. Be grateful said tipping incident did not turn into, The Poseidon Adventure, and that the only thing that died in your cabin was your pants and your roommates glass of wine. Make a mental note to get Ambien from your doctor before you sail, so you don’t lay awake at night and wonder if the ship’s going to tip.
11. Start haunting the Royal Caribbean Website to look at plans for the ship. The Liberty of the Sea’s is HUGE. I’ll never get to see it all in seventy two hours.
12. Go to iTunes and download, “Lust for Life.” Play it over and over, while dancing around the living room. Listen to your children beg you to please stop dancing and find another hobby, quick.
13. Send a thank you note to Cruise Critic and the Marketing department at RCI. I don’t know how the heck I got picked. I don’t really care. I’m just humbled and grateful that I was.
No, I’m not going to gloat in numerous posts. This is the only post you will see on the subject, besides a lengthy trip report when I get home.

I know I’ve already said this, but congrats on your big win! I think it’s so cool that you won a cruise. The most I’ve ever won is a free lottery ticket.
