My book got an unexpected review this past week. A nice woman won my, “Oh the Horror” contest, in which you sent me your worst present getting experience. Believe me, she deserved to win. I packed up a copy of my e-book and sent it along. Most contest winners never say, “Thank you.” Even fewer let you know they read your work and tell you what they think. I’m not complaining. I’m glad to get my work into the hands of readers, although it would be nice to hear that they read it, but I digress.

Turns out this woman is a reviewer for, Romance Junkies. A popular online review site for romance. She liked my book so much she wrote a review for, Romance Junkies that will be posted today. Huh, who knew? Many writers don’t bother to promote their stuff in give-aways. Some of the people are give-away junkies. You see their name in every single contest out there. Some of them are notorious for never reading what they win. It’s a shame, but they are good at entering contests and seem t win the lion’s share of the prizes. Still, there’s no way to weed them out fairly and once that book leaves your computer you cannot control the winner. Not having a book read is a hazard of contests.

So, it was nice to hear that not only did she like it (and get my humor), she wants other people to read it too. It gives me a little hope that my contests mean something, because they start back up this month with the paperback release of, “Conjure.”
